Ethiopia is one of the most fascinating countries in Africa to visit.

Not only does this ancient-and-modern country offer outstanding trekking in the Simien Mountains (one of the highest ranges in Africa), but exploring this intriguing land on foot (once the stronghold of Christianity in Africa) is a do or die experience. Ancient medieval castles, imperial palaces, gothic cathedrals, underground churches and museums abound. The mysterious, subterranean, monolithic churches of Lalbela, for example – some of them in continuous use by orthodox priests since the 12th and 13th centuries, some of them ornately decorated, and some carved out of solid bedrock – are as treasured in Ethiopia as the pyramids of Egypt. Indeed, filled with relics of the past, the romantic land of Haile Selassie (the Lion of Judah) is sure to intrigue even the most hardened backpacker.

Two itineraries will be on offer:
Option 1 : Simien Mountains trekking and Historical highlights
Option 2 : Simien Mountain Trekking only

An add-on tour (via Egypt) to visit St. Catherines Monastery in the Sinai peninsular, and to climb Mount Sinai (the mountain where Moses is said to have received the Ten Commandments) will also be possible.

The trips will be organized in partnership with Rove Africa, through one of Ethipoia’s leading tour companies. Proficiency and excellence in delivery is guaranteed. We also know that the trips will be packed with fascinating experiences, because our groups will be taken to the most interesting sites by expert, knowledgeable guides.
